Prefacing by stating I haven’t seen the movie. My only prior knowledge was some Family Guy bits about it.

I really liked the overall story within the Mafia families, but I felt like some characters got far more development than others. That ruined it for me, especially when they’re connected to main characters. The writing was also rushed in some parts (such as Apollonia’s death).

I did really enjoy the ending, especially the parallels between Kay and Carmela. I just wish they had more interactions in order to mirror Michael and Vito, not two or three short conversations about Catholicism. A lot of characters also felt pointless in the end - Johnny Fontane is quite literally a b plot to the main story. I keep forgetting he was in the book, and I don’t mean that as him being a bad character, but rather I think his story would’ve been suitable in a spinoff novel.
