Danger in the Darkest Hour by Mary Pope Osborne

4.0

I read a lot of Magic Tree House books when I was homeschooling my children, but haven't read any of them in at least 10 years. When I saw that there was one devoted to World War II, I had to get it from my local library. It did not disappoint. Jack and Annie are still up for an adventure, Jack is still writing down notes in his notebook, and Annie is still communicating with animals. Subject matter is a little darker and the book is longer and has a nonfiction section at the end of the story so perfect for an older reader who likes history. The only drawback for me was the use of magic in this story -- did not seem to fit the rest of the plot.
