The Night of the Hunter by Davis Grubb

5.0

Such beautiful poetry in these pages! The description of the landscape and the use of metaphors are so moving and made me feel like I was right there in the dust bowl towns of that age. Davis Grubb has a keen insight into the human condition, he also understands the vulnerability of children and how those fresh eyes perceive their world. I found the writing style unusual in a fantastic way. The lack of quotation marks somehow added to the feel of the story. I really liked this book. I knew of it from watching the movie and otherwise, it might have remained hidden from me. Perhaps it is better known than I realize, but for me, this is a hidden gem.
