I can appreciate the construction of this novel, and De Krestser's authorial intent (with the two 'parts, and flipping of the book). The stories themselves, however, I did not enjoy. I prefer Lili's story to Lyle's, despite being somewhat of a dystopi-ho.
Although the context and intention BEHIND the story is powerful, and I appreciated the way that she wove this throughout the texts, the stories themselves felt like nothing, and for a genre I adore, and a premise I should have loved - I am unfortunately disappointed.
