someone called this mundane apocalypse and that’s just the perfect description. i love the writing, the themes, everything. somehow something totally insane becomes so normal in julia’s works. queen of spooky ambiguity. i am also obsessed with how water plays a role both here and in our wives under the sea. it’s like this idea as rebirth, and cleansing, and starting again. honestly, this was so, so good.
