Dracula by Bram Stoker

Shoutout to Bruce for the recommendation (he wouldn't stop talking about it so I decided to read it so we could actually meaningfully talk about it). This was a classic I never thought to read especially given my lack of interest in vampires but figured I should read it to learn the lore.

Way more interesting than I thought, found that the characters were very compelling. My least favorite part of Dracula was Dracula lol. The storytelling was well done, though the beginning was a little bit confusing. Everyone knows vampire lore nowadays though so the mystery wasn't as compelling as it probably was in 1897. The characters all had really fleshed out personalities and backstories and I thought they were all very interesting to read about, even as the more mundane parts setting the scene were playing out. I actually found the ending of trying to actually find Dracula to be a little dull comparatively and given the beginning a little rocky, I took a star off but the middle chunk was phenomenal.

Medicine has ruined my brain I could not get over the number of untested blood transfusions didn't immediately kill these people - all these people must have either been universal donors and acceptors or something because this is CRAZY (not to mention all the blood borne diseases).
