The Attack by Yasmina Khadra

4.0

An interesting glimpse into the psyche of a jihadist. Amin, an Arabic doctor in Tel Aviv, discovers his wife is the suicide bomber that has recently created an explosion in a crowded cafe. Disconcerted, disoriented and completely baffled by his decreased wife's secret life, Amin seeks to discover the truth about his wife's activities and the motives behind why she would renounce her comfortable and respectable life for ideals that Amin finds repulsive. Though the nom de plume is given as a women, it is actually a northern african muslim named mohammad. Well-written, though it's fairly obvious the author is not a jihadist himself. The arguments of the fanatics don't seem very zealous or impassioned.
