It was very promising since I'm a really huge fan of carnivals, but Scarlett as the narrator didn't make me feel much better. Yes, her father traumatized her, but then all she did was even more mistakes. I didn't like how she sometimes makes decisions, it did not make her the protective older sister she making herself to be. While mistakes are needed to build a character, if this mistake gets repeated,  then what's the point of rooting for that person? In the end, I found myself liking Tella more, and I hope it doesn't change when I get to the second book.

With that said, I still like this book that I'm willing to continue reading the series while waiting for EvaJacks book 3—and that is the series I actually loved from Miss Garber. I'm still her fan. ♡♡
