I loved this! The atmosphere was chilling, and yet I still found myself wanting to explore both estates (and the forests that surround them).

Where Kingfisher shines, once again, is her character work. Cordelia and Hester were both incredibly compelling (and I loved how prominent Hester was!) and interesting. Watching Cordelia grow into her own during this novel was just glorious.

This was also incredibly chilling. Despite how slow it felt at times, I really enjoyed each and every moment.
