Looking for Alaska by John Green

Although I always hate it when books feel the need to detail teenagers kissing or having sex (seriously, it's weird!), the overall story of the book was really interesting. Sometimes it felt slightly repetitive, but the story still kept me hooked enough to read the entire book in a day. The book has an open ending, but it doesn't feel like an annoying cliffhanger. It gets you, the reader, to think deeply about life, death, and the definition and meaning of both of them. Very impressive debut novel.
