i think this book is really solid! the dialogue is a little stilted at times and it can be hard to keep up with the plot, but for a novel that was originally a webcomic, i think it translates really well. max's internal conflict and transition are written really realistically and compellingly. i think his relationships with his friends are the most important part of this story, which means it gets knocked down a bit since they really only assemble at the end. luckily that just means volume 2 will be even better!
Graphic: Dysphoria, Transphobia, and Deadnaming
Moderate: Homophobia, Lesbophobia, and Bullying
deadnaming of the main character happens a significant amount, but we are never actually told his deadname (it's blurred in the text). homophobia/lesbophobia are internalized by one of the characters.
