Tarzan of the Apes
by Edgar Rice Burroughs
Tarzan is a man's man. That is what I like best about this book. He was both cunning and strong, smarter and stronger than most men out of a necessity to survive. He was a man who realized his full potential out there in the wild.
The Crash Test Dummies belittle Tarzan in their song about Superman, saying he isn't a real gent, but he proves that he can function well in society. In fact, Superman is all fake, but Tarzan is the type of man that maybe we could be given the right circumstances. The book was much better than I expected, but I don't plan on reading any sequels. This type of book could get old really quickly and I don't want to ruin my regard for this story.
