A stunning indigenous story focused on the creation of community. A boy journeys to a mountain for materials and finds himself captive by the eagle people. They teach him every small detail of community that is needed to pull a new group together, instructing and correcting him with the threat of his life at stake. Eventually he has learned all he can, and returns home, where he must use his knowledge to create community in his own homeland.

It was simply beautiful. The exploration of how to be a respectful participant within the circle of life was fascinating and the cultural detail was stunning. The illustrations were perfectly simple yet magic.
