jesterpoet 's review for:
Boy's Life
by Robert R. McCammon
I don't know how I've been missing this book all these years.
I went into this book expecting a horror novel from the lists I saw it on, but horror and the supernatural are only a very small part of what McCammon is doing here. Overall it is a story of childhood... maybe boyhood, but I think it reaches further than that, in a long-gone era that, nonetheless resonates today.
McCammon's characters jump off the page with the life he gives them, and I found myself laughing and crying in equal measure while spending time with the residents of Zephyr. I don't often gush about a book, but this one deserves it. I cannot recommend it enough.
