A System So Magnificent It Is Blinding by Amanda Svensson

3.0

It took me two months to read this book and yet that wasn't enough time to decide what I thought of it.

On one hand, it's too long. We follow 3 siblings in 3 different countries, and if you took the pages in this book, you could make almost a whole novel about each one. Sometimes they do boring things, and I don't need that!

On the other hand, the writing is striking, peculiar, and beautiful. (Thanks to Nichola Smalley for the English translation; I can always count on you!) There were so many moments throughout this book where I wanted to ponder over a particularly fine, astute phrase. Even so, the characters didn't really come alive for me, except for quick flashes where they really, really did.

The whole thing was just a really weird time, and I'm kind of glad it's over, but also kind of sorry. Strange, huh?
