This was such a cute story about the origin of Queen Clarion & Milori's romance and doomed relationship. It brought me back at Pixie Hollow and to my childhood in all the best ways possible!

The world of Pixie Hollow is so beautiful and magical, I would love to live there myself! How the world is built around nature and the animals that live there like animals being used to get from place to place and the flowers being used for furniture or building materials. It was so creative to see this world feel alive and lived in like it could have been a real life place. I wish it were a very real place with fairies working hard to make the seasons work in tandem.

Seeing a younger version of Queen Clarion before becoming queen was very cool, seeing her struggle with her role as a princess and for people to connect with her instead of just seeing her as royalty. She hated watching people walk eggshells around her and treat her like something delicate or to be respected all the time instead of just a young girl like she was. Milori felt the same way, he was thrown into a role he was truly not ready for and it is a responsibility that wears on him a lot. He feels lonely even though he cares very deeply for his people and wants to make the Winter Fairies reputation better instead of what they were.

The themes of a sort of racism or distrust of a certain kind of group of fairies was prominent and I thought it was well done. How the other fairies didn't trust the winter fairies because of a situation that happened long ago with the nightmares. How even though they haven't done anything against them they still have a distrust in them and learning to get past them to try to look at them in a new light.

This was a very light and fluffy book after all the heavier books I have read last month so it was such a joy and a favorite book for sure!
