The story would be shorter and more enjoyable if one didn’t have to suffer though Audrey Rose lamenting over what happened in the last story half the the time and when not whining about that then suffering through her lamenting over Thomas. Once we got to the meat of the mystery I really enjoyed it. Hopefully book three will have less Victorian angst, I really need Audrey Rose to be a strong kickass heroine 90% of the time and 10% angsty rather then the other way around. I will read book 3 in hopes she evolves, but I’m in no hurry, which probably says more than anything. I probably should have rated this a 3 star… but the mystery was still good and honestly didn’t see coming so extra points!
