I swear, every book I’ve been reading has not been over a three star, including this one. The writing’s okay but pretty subpar with lackluster sex scenes, and the conflict about Galina’s father felt like it was forgiven way too quickly for my tastes. I was a little annoyed at how Luca didn’t really have all that much going on for him in terms of conflict save for like his half-uncle or something showing up and him being mad because that side of the family disowned his father for being Black. I finished this a few days ago and literally remember nothing except Galina being an OBGYN and shooting the councilwoman with no remorse. I will say it’s refreshing to read mafia/dark-ish romance and seeing the MMC treating the FMC like a goddess. Doubly so because they’re Black woman and serve the world.
