Don't Cry for Me by Daniel Black
4.0
emotional reflective medium-paced

This feels more like a memoir than a novel, and I love that.

Jacob is ill and doesn’t have much time left. He decides to write letters to his estranged son, Isaac, and reflects upon his journey from childhood through fatherhood and beyond. The most glaring challenge in their relationship was Jacob’s opposition to Isaac’s homosexuality. As Jacob’s letters continue, he shares his regrets and efforts.

I love reading about folks who choose the route of education, compassion, and reflection. Does it undo any damage? No, but the effort deserves acknowledgment.

My only grievance is an emotional one as I wanted more answers, but as I mentioned, this book reads like non-fiction. Real life is messy.

⭐️RATING⭐️: I really liked it! I recommend to folks who like epistolary novels, and the author did a great job narrating for audio! (4⭐️)
