The Anxious Generation: How The Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt

2.0

Smart phones are to blame for the rise in anxiety in today's youth. They're more to blame than desktop computers or flip phones because of how addicting web 2.0 and social media are. Social media has had a more profound affect on girls than boys because of how girls internalize content. Teenagers are choosing to be more reclusive and seek connection online or not at all vs seeking external connection because of how pervasive and easy smartphones make said connections. COVID-19 exacerbated this problem.

Repeated ad infinitum. With charts.

Also, this book has scads of rave reviews and no one is ever going to read my shout into an abyss review so I'll say the following: It's boring as hell. It was a chore to read. It's landing on best of lists because it's an easy premise to endorse.
