The Eighth House: Hades & Persephone by Eris Adderly

4.0

This is most certainly not your average Hades and Persephone story. it does address the original capture but delves into the why Hades does such a thing and takes Persephone from the maiden everyone knows to a woman with a secret she herself does not even know. This is epic. It is graphic. It hits you right there smack dab in the face with its sexuality and senses. It does not tiptoe it is there. I enjoyed it immensely. It stuck to the original while branching out on its own in a way most retellings cannot or fail to do. Kudos to the author for the bold choice and its success. An author to definitely keep a lookout for. The best way to describe this book is decadent and filthy all in one. I was intrigued beginning til end. And might I say I am impressed with Aphrodite's cleverness and the way she veils it with selfishness which everyone already expects from her. She most certainly does not get enough credit from the other gods.
