Sophie's Choice by William Styron
3.0

I thought the story was brilliant, I just thought the writing was too dry; too droll. It felt almost like a black comedy, where the tragedy is apparent but you're still supposed to laugh. Which kind of makes sense, because life goes on, you know? What are you gonna do, be miserable the rest of your life? But still a little... I don't know...disrespectful?

I also hated the narrator. It felt like he wasn't seeing Sophie at all; he was just seeing a beautiful woman who he desperately wanted to f*ck. 3/5
