The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
4.0
We chose it as our December book in book club.
I really liked the setting of the book. The wintery forest setting is always quite magical.
Sometimes I thought the book was quite slow and that it would never pick up the pace, but I didn't want to put it down nonetheless.
I adore the fairytale characters that play a huge role in the book. The main character did not let herself be broken by the people that kept telling her to stop believing in fairy tales and to grow up.
I think the second half of the book was much more interesting than the first. I thought I wouldn't like the book but I ended up really enjoying it. It took me back to my childhood. I'll definitely read the next book.
