This was a wild ride and I think the audiobook was the right way of reading it. Grim as hell but fascinating.

It wasn’t perfect but I kind of loved it? It was just so 👌

Does the cat die?
No, the protagonist's cat is never harmed. But a raccoon is killed gruesomely.
