I loved Doty’s nonfiction when I read him in high school, and reading his poetry was a wonderful experience. I’m biased toward the later entries. Although sometimes the poems lap one another w/r/t subject matter, he’s clearly gaining mastery through repetition. So much poignant description of queerness and mortality and the natural world here.
