This book is powerful, needed, and important. Monsters live among us, a lesson Jam learns through her interactions with PET. The book is short, but the lesson is told masterfully and the audiobook is amazing.
However, the question is who is this story for. The symbolism and subject matter may go over the heads of middle schoolers, and may even be triggering without offering a realistic answer for their situation. There is no PET for children, and the angels can be monsters. It’s difficult to gauge this book, but I can say that it works amazingly as adult fable.
