Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan

4.0

A sort of short story (114 pages total) that felt like a full 300 pages book.
The message lingers, how many times in our lifetime we encounter injustice? And what do we do about it? How many times we’ve turned the blind eye for our own sake?

I’ll keep thinking about this story for a long time, questioning what I do for others. And how trapped someone can be due to their circumstances, how difficult it is to break free from the surviving mode cycle.

We spend most of our lives numb in a way by our own struggles that we forget to open our eyes and minds to look around.

Definitely more than a book, more than a story, but a message for the reader.
