Piper is your typical A list NYC gal. She’s famous for well, being famous. Glitz, glamour, influencer lifestyle mixed with a wild child means the paparazzi are always on her heels. When an out of control party at a hotel break in lands her in the slammer her stepfather sends her and her sister to run their late fathers dive bar in a small town in Washington to learn some responsibility. Piper is determined to prove her stepfather and the hot grumpy local they’re wrong. Will Piper’s continued head butting with Brendan prove to be distracting? Will she persevere or run back to NYC defeated?

It’s been a bit of a slump this month folks so I knew I needed a romance to keep my reading light and fluffy. And It Happened One Summer accomplished just that. This was a bit of Schitts Creek meets <insert rom com of choice>.

I did end up liking Piper even though I knew she’d drive me insane at the beginning. Brendan was well written and the romance was believable. The character development worked out well and didn’t feel forced.

While it’s not enough to join my romance faves in this pile, I will keep it as I did enjoy it, 3.5✨.
