I’m disappointed that I didn’t give this book my attention sooner. It is an urgent and well written account of the systemic racism Indigenous peoples face in Canada, while telling the horrifically inconclusive stories of seven children’s’ deaths in Thunder Bay, Ontario. These deaths are inconclusive only in a factual sense. Each has unambiguously come about because of that racism. I feel angered and motivated to learn and understand more. Talaga is a talented writer and storyteller, and this important book should be read by all.
