My father died this year, and it has been pretty hard. And I was a little worried about reading a book about death. However, I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea so much that I decided to give it a shot.
And. It. WRECKED. Me. Full on weeping. But damn this is a good book. The characters are amazing. The story is cozy and heartwarming, even if it is sad. And like The House in the Cerulean Sea, it is about kindness and the strength that comes with it.
The process of death in this book really helped me deal with some hardships I am going through with my dad. “It’s life, Wallace. even when you’re dead, it’s still life. You exist. You’re real. You’re strong and brave and I’m so happy to know you.” *sniff*
This story shines so bright and is 100% worth a read. But will also give you a book hangover. I am pretty lost on what to read next.
