Recursion
by Blake Crouch
Thought-provoking and very Nolan-esque. However, the story gets a bit repetitive in the last third (intentionally so) and it makes the read a bit harder to get through. I found myself feeling a bit hopeless and sad because of it. I had very similar feelings with the last third of "Dark Matter." I could have misread some parts, but I feel like there are some plot holes here, which are bound to happen with time-travel stories.
Recursion still has a very original story concept and explores themes that make you ask questions like: What are our memories for? Are they a sum total of who we are as people? Is regret healthy or toxic? Are our souls tied to something much larger than what is in our brain? etc.
