My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan
3.75

Julia Whelan, an accomplished audiobook narrator, writes and narrates this debut novel. We are introduced to Ella, who is spending a year at Oxford on a Rhodes scholarship. She has commitments back home competing for her time, but she still finds ways to enter into friendships and experiences to enhance her first time abroad. No surprise that a year of no-strings commitments is tested, and she finds herself stretched between two possible futures.

The events are predictable, but we don’t approach books like this to be blindsided. It was a pleasant, well-written audiobook to experience.
