The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

2.0

Bookstagram and Booktube made me read this book. Every other person on there was recommending it, so I had to see what was all the hype about...

I have given a 3-star rating to this book only because I really love Greek Mythology and all the fictional stories woven around it (OG Percy Jackson Gang rise up... XD) and the second reason being I liked Miller's writing style and making Greek mythological stories a quite easy read.

But this book didn't really pass the Hype Check for me, as I expected more of the prophecy part, more of the Troy war and less of overall romance and Achilles radiating supreme dickhead energy in the final chapters of the book. 100-something pages into the book and we were still not on the much-anticipated war and fighting sequence but rather goofing around, defining Achilles' beautiful body for the umpteenth time. Really annoying for me.

I understand the book was written from Patroclus' POV and all that yadda, yadda, yadda... the book-stans will give me on this review, but it was not the relationship between the two the problem in the book, if the promised war, the fighting scenes and less of the backstage drama more defined in the book, I would have definitely loved every bit of it.
