Cilka's Journey by Heather Morris

5.0

Heartbreaking and inspiring. Cilka’s Journey follows a young Jewish woman who was sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau at age 16 where she remained as a prisoner for three years until the camp was liberated by the soviets. She was then sent to a labor camp nearly 100 miles north of the arctic circle where she was sentenced to 15 years hard labor. This is a story of love, friendship, bravery and endurance in the most impossible of situations. It is based on the life of a real woman who lived many of the atrocities found within the pages of the text. A sobering story, Cilka’s Journey is a stark reminder of a terrible history.
