My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fourth grade and have been inseparable since. It's now 1988, and they are seniors in high school. After a night of skinny dipping and experimenting with drugs, Gretchen starts acting strange. Abby becomes convinced that her friend is possessed by a demon and will stop at nothing to save her soul.
I finally picked this up because its become a movie, and I want to see how its been adapted. This was my first Grady Hendrix book, and I was not disappointed! I thought this was a cute, and goofy read, with some gruesome bits thrown in for good measure. It was such a great balanced of humour and horror that I couldn't get enough of. I wouldn't say it was scary, but it was fun. I loved Gretchen and Abby's friendship, they cared about each other so fiercely. I loved how hard Abby fought for Gretchen, even when no one believed her when she was saying she was possessed. I loved Brother Lemon, he was a great comedic relief during the exorcism scene, even though I don't know if he was supposed to be. I ended up giving it four, instead of 5 stars because I felt that it began to drag a bit in the middle of the story. But, it did pick up and have a fast-paced ending once again. I'm also a bit confused on how Gretchen became possessed, I might have missed it... but I don't think there was any explanation other then the drugs... I just wanted an explanation!
Definitely going to be checking out more from this author!
