2.5 stars rounded up to 3 stars. I think with so many recommendations & positive reviews I was expecting too much.
We use to live here for a paranormal horror novel about a family that visits the father Thomas’s childhood home. Eve & Charlie have newly moved in to renovate and flip the house. Eve against her better judgment lets the strangers in their house. Then all the weird stuff starts happening.
I will say this book was eerie but not even close to the most terrifying thing I’ve read. I was entirely too focused with trying to keep up with everything happening & trying to make it make sense to become frightened. Was that the point? If so that style of writing isn’t for me.
I love Eve & Charlie. The beginning of the book was great. Then all of a sudden everything seems rushed, the plot holes and questions start popping up. This feels like the first half of a manuscript and we lost the second half.
If there is a part 2 I will read it to see if my questions are answered.
