After the ending of book one I was keen to get back to the Herbert family and see what happened when Gus found out his ex-wife was the one who saved their company by buying them out. It set me up to think Chloe was this shrewd calculated character, but really she wasn't and in very quick time she realises she's still in love with her ex-husband Gus. Of course he knew this first, despite supposedly being a grumpy lumberjack he was really the sweetest guy. I don't generally love surprise pregnancy stories but I did enjoy the romance and their reconnecting. Definitely some unresolved plot lines that I hope will be explored more in future books around the family.
Moderate: Pregnancy
Minor: Domestic abuse, Death of parent
