This was surprisingly pleasant and even insightful, which I wouldn't expect from a trope-based story (especially when the trope is so ridiculous and unrealistic). I found the relationship the main characters build with each other has real potential for a promising future: they pay attention to each other and communicate what is important to them.
For a phenomenally stupid idea that a pretend-marriage always is, this particular one manges to showcase a fairly healthy relationship, which I deeply appreciated.
The brother of the main character, however, is disgusting and almost spoiled the book for me. The author attempted to plaster on a broken heart past for him, but there is no possible excuse for his behavior and attitudes - yuck. Without his toxic presence this would have been a 5* book despite the fake marriage idiocy.
