I just can't get through this, no matter how hard I try. There are too many books on my shelf calling to me to continue to slog through this one, but maybe I'll pick it up again at a later date. I'm hesitant to mark it "read" and give it a starred review when I only made it roughly halfway, but it reflects poorly on the writing that--even halfway through--there were no characters in whom I was sufficiently invested to keep reading.
