Wynd Book One: Flight of the Prince by James Tynion IV
adventurous
fast-paced
4.5
A few months ago, I cleaned out my tbr list and almost dumped this one, but I'm so glad I didn't!
Right off the bat, we've got some really cool characters, and it's so nice to see that they're already getting some good development in. Yorik definitely would have been insufferable if Thorn hadn't gotten through to him. And Wynd and Oakley both have to grow up a little. Honestly, I think Thorn is the only one of the main four who hasn't changed all that much, which is fine. There's still time.
The world is also interesting, and I look forward to seeing more of it in book two. I wasn't a huge fan of the section where we get all the history at once (it felt a little clunky), but it was useful information. I was thrilled with the vampire and fairy designs though! They were very unique and cool.
This also set up the main plot nicely, I thought, and I'm eager to see where that goes.
On the whole, this is a really solid start to a series that I look forward to seeing more of.
