Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving by Pete Walker

This book is absolutely one of the bests that I have ever read, entering that small and yet highly sought after category of lifechanging. I read this on recommendation of my therapist as part of my therapy, and I am forever thankful that I followed that suggestion. Being newly diagnosed with C-PTSD myself I had a general idea of what that meant, and yet when reading this book my understanding of not only myself but my diagnosis grew by leaps and bounds. Written in a clear empathetic voice, Pete Walker explains in great detail how this condition is commonly formed, what possible symptoms you may experience, and how you can begin your journey of healing. Because of this I was able to identify how truly traumatic my experiences were, realize the unhealthy coping mechanisms I adopted to deal with these events, and learned how to stop those behaviors and instead incorporate a more healthy and user friendly inner world. In conclusion I would highly recommend this book, and if this review ever passes by Mr. Walker, I would like to say how grateful I am to him and his work for how much it changed my life for the better.
