Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen

5.0

Such a fan. Not of his entire body of work - love a lot of his old stuff and some of his later work - but certainly of him as a person. This memoir only reinforced my impressions. Not sure how much, if any, was ghost written but his voice really comes through and, if you're familiar at all with his song writing, it's not hard to believe he wrote every word himself. A lot of it really lyrical and lovely. I found him to be quite open and honest about some probably difficult subjects - childhood, band mates, relationships, career - and wasn't shy about admitting to a whole range of emotions from anger and depression to profound love and affection. Except for its bulk, it was the perfect travel/beach read.
