The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon
2.0
I thought this one was better than the second half of voyager, but it still doesn't capture the feeling of outlander for me. I thought the beginning was slow and a bit tedious, but it did pick up after they left the gathering. Poor Roger! Boy does he suffer in this book. DG seems to need to put some random crazy inexplicable plot device in each of her books. In this one it was a cannibal/albino ghost bear. I don't understand why an author that is capable of writing a scene like the one where Roger remembers his mother feels the need to always include a really stupid jump the shark type plot twist in each book? The books are long enough, why not just edit it down to just the good stuff? On the plus side, I don't believe any main characters were raped in this book.
