Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling

5.0

I have to say, I'd never been a fan of Harry Potter. I even remember watching the first film 16 years ago and it scared the hell out of me; I completely hated it, but I kept watching the rest of series just because but to be honest, I never payed so much attention into the story.
Time passed and I got to go to London, my favourite place on earth. I've always been a fan of English culture so, going to this city was a dream come true. LITERALLY. I will never forget the feeling I had when I got there and nothing will make me feel that way again.
The thing is that I was in London and my hotel happened to be 3 blocks from King's Cross. I travelled with my cousin and he is a fan of HP so he wanted to go to Platform 9 3/4. I agreed because I wanted to get to know EVERYTHING and despite of not liking the story, hp merchandising is marvelous.
I found myself inside the shop getting lost between all the fans and artefacts that I didn't know what they were. I bought a few things for my friends but I didn't get anything for myself because I wasn't a fan and if you are not a fan, you don't have the right to buy its merchandising.
The only thing I bought for me was this book, The philosopher's stone.
My cousin stared at me like *what are you doing?*. So, you can picture how much I've hated hp in my life.
Though I collect books, having Harry Potter in my collection wouldn't hurt anyone.

When I got back home and my friends found out about me buying this book, they freaked out, So I put the book to a side and let it wait for about 6 months.
And now here I am... I finished reading it and I completely loved it.
I think there are things that are not meant to be for us in a certain moment but for another. That happened to me with this book. My 9 years old me didn't like the story when she watched the film back then, but my 25 years have become something of a fan.
