The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

I loved this when I read it in middle school, but it really got on my nerves rereading it now. I guess that’s the fun thing about books, in a way, how rereading something at different points in your life can change you perspective on it. Various things that have happened since 2009 like the geek chic fad, the rise of nerd “culture”, and the various and invariably lame Reddit-tier jokes/philosophies/opinions that cyclically pollute the internet. All of that and a bunch of other things have made me sour on this book’s sense of humor, and humor is pretty much the big thing the book has going for it. I didn’t exactly hate this rereading it, it just felt like reconnecting with an old nerd friend who turned out to be an atheist keyboard warrior.
