An amazing first volume to a chilling manga. It’s such an interesting take on friendship and love that it kept me on the edge of my seat. The way the buzzing of the cicadas is spread across almost every page makes you hear it around you, loud and, at times, annoying, a nice detail that adds so much flavour to the atmosphere.
The drawings are good; there are some panels where it feels a bit wonky, but they’re balanced out by some amazing full-page illustrations, like the one where Yoshiki has his head on the table and everything looks like it’s dripping down.
The story is more psychological horror at this point, but the mystery seems to be much darker than we expect. Can’t wait to read more and see how the story progresses, maybe I’ll check out the anime adaptation afterwards as well.
