Just a fantastic read. Minato knows how to write truly compelling characters, one’s you get fully invested in even for only one chapter. Also the adults in this are fucking nuts. Poor Emily, it’s so heartbreaking. The book really hones in on just vulnerable children are to the adults around them, and often become collateral in the consequences of their actions and decisions.
I wish I knew Japanese so I can read more of her work, but as it stands only two have been translated to English and I greatly enjoyed both of them. It was quick and a good fucking time.
