The Woman Next Door by Cass Green

4.0

This psychological thriller is told, in alternating chapters, from the points of view of the two title characters. Hester and Melissa are next-door neighbors and both of them have strong feelings (of very different kinds) toward the woman next door. I enjoyed it immensely and, as I read, constantly asked myself how it could possibly end — and how I’d end it if I were the author. I could never come up with answers to either of these questions. (Which proves I’m lousy at plot.) It’s definitely dark and twisty, often comical, and sometimes downright bizarre. I continually switched allegiances, too, from Hester to Melissa, back and forth. Which made it a lot of fun to read. A well-written and intriguing story. A good value, too — especially for the Kindle price of 99 cents. I’ll definitely read the next book by Cass Green (which is due out this fall).
