Alaska's Native Peoples by Ann Chandonnet

informative fast-paced

2.5

I enjoyed the book's bright artwork and images. While the photo layout was somewhat distracting, the photos served as excellent visual aids for readers. In terms of the writing, I felt like I learnt more about the diet and hunting practices of Alaska's Native Peoples than about them. I believe the timeline on the last page should have been on the first page and served as a historical introduction. The author alluded to various issues, such as aboriginal peoples' battle with Russians and Canadians, but did not go into as much or any genuine detail as I would have preferred.
This book might have benefited from being lengthier and including more information about Alaska's various native groups.
