Six Years by Harlan Coben
3.0

A friend of mine told me she was a fan of Harlan Coben and when I was at the library today, I decided to pick one out without having done any research into his bibliography. This one sounded interesting: a man's true love suddenly dumps him and marries another man, making him promise not to look her up; six years later he sees that the husband is dead, and decides to go console his widow, only to find that she is not his love, and moreover no one seems to remember her.

I found it to be an easy, quick read with suspense ratcheted up with every chapter. But there were some things that didn't really work for me: the protagonist's obsession with this woman, which is borderline insane (it doesn't help that he repeatedly says, "I know this sounds insane, but..."; the tone was a bit too chatty for someone in danger of his life, etc., etc. So 3 stars overall, which more or less accords with the Amazon reviews, which say that this isn't the best of Harlan Coben's books.
